Exploring Crete’s Rich Heritage, from Olive Trees to Community Support!

TP Team in Chania, exploring Crete’s Rich HeritageAt Teleperformance in Greece, one of our core promises is to build a sustainable business that benefits our employees, clients, shareholders, and communities. As part of our ongoing commitment to sustainable growth, we have been implementing our Global Citizen of the World and Citizen of the Planet initiatives. These initiatives aim to create a positive impact on society and the environment, with a vision of fostering a fairer, more equitable world.

In line with these values, we recently hosted an initiative that allowed us to dive into the heart of Cretan culture while supporting the local community in Chania. This enriching experience was a powerful reminder of the importance of sustainability, community, and connection to nature.

A Journey Through Crete’s Rich Heritage

The highlight of this event was a journey centered around the olive tree, a symbol of longevity, wisdom, and prosperity in Crete. We began our adventure by visiting a modern olive oil mill, where we learned about the latest methods of olive oil production. This innovative approach showcased the seamless blend of tradition and modernity, allowing us to appreciate the meticulous care that goes into producing high-quality olive oil.

Next, we stepped back in time at a medieval olive oil mill from 1863. The hands-on experience gave us a glimpse into the labor-intensive methods used to extract olive oil in the past, offering a fascinating contrast to the contemporary techniques we had just learned about.

Our final stop was truly unforgettable: the ancient olive tree, estimated to be over 3,000 years old. This living monument served as a testament to the resilience and wisdom of nature, embodying the deep connection the people of Crete have with the land.

Giving Back: Supporting the Chania Food Bank

After gathering fresh olive oil, each participant had the option to take home a portion of it. But we didn’t stop there: we donated a significant portion to the Chania Municipality Food Bank. This donation reflected our commitment to helping those in need and making a tangible difference in the community.
